What is the format of the IELTS General Writing test?
The IELTS Writing test consists of two tasks. In Task 1,you will be presented with a situation and asked to write a letter requesting information or explaining the situation. The letter may be personal, semi-formal or formal in style. In Task 2, you will be asked to write an essay on a given topic.
How long do I have to complete the IELTS General Writing test?
You will have 60 minutes to complete both tasks of the IELTS General Writing test
How is the IELTS General Writing test graded?
The IELTS General Writing test is graded on a scale of 0 to 9, with 0.5 point increments. Your writing will be assessed on four criteria: task achievement, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy.
